Education, Qualifications and Experience
Ms. Ma graduated with a Bachelor of Law from Jilin University in 1999 and was called to the bar in China in 2000. She obtained a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 2015 and was called to the bar in Saskatchewan in 2016.
Ms. Ma completed her articling at MacPherson Leslie & Tyerman LLP (MLT), one of the largest business law firms based in Western Canada. Since practising law in Shanghai, China, in 2000, she has had many years of experience in various areas of corporate and commercial law. She is a member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan and Shanghai Bar Association. She is also a member of the Board of Revision of the City of Saskatoon.
With a specialization in corporate/commercial matters, residential and commercial real estate and wills, trusts and estates, Ms. Ma offers legal services in English and Chinese. In her practice, Ms. Ma has represented strategic and financial buyers and sellers in Canada and China in domestic and cross-border acquisitions, divestitures, leveraged buy-outs, investments, joint ventures and recapitalizations in a variety of industries including mining, telecommunications, real estate, manufacturing, agriculture, construction, finance, higher education, health care, insurance, securities, trading and brokerage.
